The second day of the B20 Turkey Summit commenced with the first ever B20-L20 jointly held G20 Leaders’ Session. The session started with the opening remarks of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey. H.E. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada also delivered special remarks to the B20 community.
The Leaders’ session was moderated by Muhtar Kent, Chairman and CEO of the Coca-Cola Company. Mr. Kent discussed with prominent guests, heads of international organizations, how to achieve a more inclusive framework for growth and jobs. The following distinguished leaders participated in the discussion: Guy Ryder, Director General, ILO; Christine Lagarde, Managing Director, IMF; Angel Gurria, Secretary General, OECD; Roberto Azevêdo, Director General, WTO; and Mark Carney, Chair, Financial Stability Board. CEOs from the B20 Community directed questions and comments to the heads of international institutions during the session.
An exclusive session on women refugees was jointly organized with the W20 after the plenary debate. At the session, the First Lady of Turkey Mrs. Emine Erdoğan delivered her remarks, highlighting the status of refugees worldwide and related challenges of governments and local communities.
A joint B20-T20 Session “Financing Infrastructure for Sustainable Growth” concluded the two-day Summit meeting agenda. The session featured prominent infrastructure experts, and focused on the financing strategies and solutions that need to be in play to position infrastructure as an asset class, and eventually to close the infrastructure financing gap.
The B20 Turkey Antalya Summit ended up with a special retreat organized for the B20 Community at an Antalya resort, in the evening of November 15th.
